I am wondering if this mod/hack can be put in for Checkout only? My customers only need to submit one image at the end of the order and not with All the items they order.

If this can be done, what do I need to do/change to the mod in order to get that to work?

This is not easily done. The hard part would be attaching the file back to the correct order.

What do I need to do to set it up so they only upload once? My customers usually only place one order every 6 months at the most. Since they need to be registered in order to place an order, it might not need to be attached to the order but the customer. Will that help?

Did you make any progress on upload at checkout instead of per product?
I'd love to use this for my wife's hobby site as well, and am willing to offer a donantion for your efforts

I might need simular techniques for a project I'm working on now, so I may be able to adapt VU to that. No timeframe though..
