Upload status doesn't work in IE 1 Year, 5 Months ago
I've been using VirtueUpload Pro for several months and it works beautifully on FF and Safari. But it was just brought to my attention that in IE the upload "appears" to never finish. After examining the admin, the files ARE uploaded to the server, but on the front end of the site there is no way to tell. You are left with the same BROWSE field that still contains the file path and there is no notification that your upload has completed.

At first I assumed this was a js conflict issue but I turned off every component that called in a javascript and the problem persists.

Please help!

You can see the issue here:
www.superbigpics.com/index.php...p;Itemid=9

If you try an upload in FF it works just as it should. But in IE it just sits there.

I too am having problems with Bixie VMUpload Pro and IE8 - I admit that I have not tested in other version of IE, but this is a popular browser in it's own right so I'm hoping that the same solution will apply to IE 7 (I can live with IE6 users not getting any joy!)

My issue is exactly the same as crops315.

Everything works beautifully in FF, Opera, Safari and Chrome but IE simply refuses to complete the upload process. Specifically, the candy stripe progress bar does not appear, and then, upon what appears to be a silent completion of the process, no popup of the image appears, so I then tried to use the add to cart button to see what happened; I was informed that I had not selected a valid product variant in the Ajax add to cart pop-up.

This suggests to me that at some point in the module code IE is not allowing the trigger of the child attributes through properly. I also suspected that this may have been down to Javascript and some element of the DOM but IE offers no syntax errors to indicate this.

I am using Windows 7 Dell installed IE8 with Joomal 1.5.19 and VM1.1.5 (patched from 1.1.4) along with Bixie Upload 1.5.1.0.1 Pro.

The domain is here *DOMAIN REMOVED BY USER*

(added by edit)I must add that the clothing section is really the only section worth trying, I have been mainly testing using the Zoodie, which is the first product in that that category.(/added by edit)

The site looks like a bag of nails; while I sort out this problem there is little point in final styling!

Any pointers would be much appreciated, and although I can hold my own in php, xhtml and css, my Javascript conflict knowledge is limited

Best regards

David

Hi Crops315

I hope that you don't mind me asking but did you manage to sort out the IE issue with VMUpload yourself?

I too am having problems with IE8 and the upload process, but after a quick test on your site I saw that it worked ok now.

Was this down to some genius insight on your part? If so, I'd much appreciate your input on how this was achieved, I'm struggling here.

Don't worry, I have also asked the developer but I felt it necessary to cast the net wide, especially considering the brief answer that you received suggested that you had solved it yourself before the reply came back.

Regards,

David

On the problem of "I was informed that I had not selected a valid product variant in the Ajax add to cart pop-up.", that has to do with the Make custom attributes optional-hack in Virtuemart. Apply the hack, or upgrade to VM 1.1.5

On the IE-problem, I'm in the blank. The VirtueUpload-javascript is obviously blocked by some js-error earlier in the pageload. The VM-attribute is not properly set to read-only and has no value. That indicates the VU-script did not run at all.
The strange thing is that the IE-debugger gives no errors...
I would try to modify administrator\components\com_virtuemart\classes\htmlTools.class.php as in this topic. That might just do the trick.

Hi,

Thank you for taking a look,; I can comfirm that the issue was caused by some javascript used by the Superfish Menu Module. When I changed the menu back to a regular Joomle Menu, IE (and the other browsers) all performed absolutely fine.

So, it may be worth adding the Superfish Menu to the list of conflicting modules.

David
