VirtueUpload, the ideal uploadtool for your VirtueMart webstore. Enable your costumers to attach one or multiple files to their product-order. Bixie offers you the simple VirtueUpload component to attach one upload to your product, or enables your costumers to upload multiple files/images to their order through a completely AJAX-based upload environment.
VirtueMart is probably the most used webstore for Joomla. It offers a stable and versitile platform to run your bussiness on the web. One of the features missing in VirtueMart though, is the possibility to attach a file to an order. The costumers input is limited to a pulldown choice or a one-line textinput. For Joomla! 1.0 and VirtueMart 1.0 a solution was made by Tobias Kuhn and he called it "VirtueUpload". It was a simple but popular component that could attach one file to an order. When Joomla! an VirtueMart evolved to their next versions, VirtueUpload stayed behind and was never upgraded.
When Bixie needed the upload-possibility for one of our projects, we got stuck at the old VirtueUpload, as did many others. The best solution was to upgrade VirtueUpload to Joomla! 1.5 and VirtueMart 1.1 standards. This resulted in the new VirtueUpload component, Bixie VirtueUpload 1.5.0.2. This compoment is an integration of the old VirtueUpload component and a new Joomla! 1.5 compoment SimpleCalendar by Fabrizio Albonico. The new component was a succes, being downloaded more then 1500 times in three months time!
The requests for more features came in, and the most heard one is "Can you upload more than one file with a product". This made Bixie decide to make the VirtueUpload Pro version. The component with more features and a completely rewritten Joomla! 1.5 native codebase. Now Bixie is ready to release VirtueUpload Pro to the community.
